Build AI agents with the new GitHub Copilot SDK

The GitHub Copilot SDK is here (in technical preview) so you can build the AI tools, agents, and projects of your dreams. Building agentic workflows from scratch is hard. You have to manage context, orchestrate tools and commands, route between models, integrate MCP servers - the list goes on. You’ve already built a small platform before you even get to the fun stuff. GitHub Copilot SDK removes that burden. It allows you to take the same agentic core that powers GitHub Copilot CLI and embed it in any application. Get building with the GitHub Copilot SDK The GitHub Copilot SDK, starting with Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Go, and .NET, gives you programmatic access to the Copilot CLI. Via the SDK, similar to the API, you can use your favorite programming language to: Run sessions with multi-step planning and execution (not just one-off prompts) Multi-model support so you can use the right model for each step Built-in tool orchestration via MCP servers Error recovery and memory that persists across sessions Custom agents you build yourself or get from the community There’s no framework-building required to build your next favorite AI app. Build it anywhere, whether it’s in your CLI, an extension to your IDE, in a web app, a desktop app, an internal tool or dashboard, within a SaaS platform… the world’s your oyster.
